Hello There! 👋😁

Thank you for visiting my website! I'm Isaac Yauk (pronounced like someone stepping on a lego: YAH-OW-K). I'm a Computer Science student at Montana State University and currently work as a software engineering intern at TechLink Center, a tech transfer company near campus. I've designed unit tests for front and backend projects serving TechLink staff and partnered government labs.

When I'm not coding, you'll find me exploring Montana's outdoors—especially with my girlfriend fiancée wife, Sara! I really enjoy creative writing (like poetry) and am a huge self-proclaimed nerd who loves connecting with people over video games like Helldivers 2 and Minecraft, or diving into tabletop games like Root and the Lord of the Rings Living Card Game. I also enjoy working with my hands and have recently been getting into 3D printing to design costumes for Halloween and other festivities with friends and family!

Want to know more? Here are some of my technical skills and specialties:

Professional

I joined TechLink in 2022, where I was trained to write front-end unit tests for a DOD-related lab project using C# and Selenium. Since then, I've worked on unit testing projects using JavaScript and Playwright, and I'm currently developing backend tests for company technology used by staff. Prior to TechLink, I worked as a custodian for my local church and in retail at Target and Costco. Those roles taught me team communication, time management, and consistency—skills that shaped me into the people-person I am today.

Academic

I was homeschooled through high school and began pursuing a Computer Science major with a minor in Chinese Language at MSU in 2021. I'm on track to graduate in Fall 2026, and though the road has had its challenges (I'm looking at you, Calculus...), I'm excited to enter the professional world! Post-graduation, I plan to continue my education through self-paced courses from resources like MIT OpenCourseWare and certifications such as CompTIA Network+ and Security+. I'm particularly interested in quantum computing and human-computer interaction, and I'm committed to staying current in these evolving fields. Continued learning is a core value of mine!

Personal

I love the mountain outdoors, so I'm right at home in Montana. I'm hoping to hike and camp more, and I'm planning to learn to hunt soon (my fiancée is going to teach me!). I enjoy reading and writing, especially poetry, and I'm into all things sci-fi and fantasy. I love spending time with friends and family over video games and tabletop sessions exploring worlds like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Helldivers—there's something special about those late-night game sessions together. I've also been learning to 3D print costumes and props from my favorite fandoms. One of my big dreams is to create a video game in the Godot engine.
